Experimental study of seismic isolation systems with emphasis on secondary system response and verification of accuracy of dynamic response history analysis methods
Eric D. Wolff, Michael C. Constantinou
This report consists of 2 parts: an experimental study of seismic isolation systems with emphasis on secondary system response, and verification of the accuracy of the dynamic response-history analysis programs. Test were performed on a single bearing test machine to determine isolation system properties for analytical modeling. Earthquake simulator tests were performed on a 1:4 scale, 6-story, building model. Various isolation systems were studied, including low damping elastomeric bearings, friction pendulum bearings, low damping elastomeric bearings with flat sliding bearings.
